You Are The Help Until Help Arrives
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.

American Sign Language (ASL)
If there were an emergency, have you wondered how you might effectively communicate with someone who is deaf or hearing impaired? Laura Leffler and her husband will provide a training for us to learn more. Laura is a member of the Carmel CERT Team, so she knows about HCEM volunteers, how we train and what we do. Laura and her husband are both fluent in ASL.
Training will be held on August 31 at 1830 at the Sherriff’s Support Building.

All HCEM Volunteers take First Aid, Stop the Bleed and CPR. Has it been a while since you took First Aid? Do you need to refresh your skills? We have a sign-up available for two upcoming First Aid classes. You can sign-up to attend October 8 at 0900 to 1200. Space is limited, so if you find that you are unable to attend, please remove your sign-up so someone else may attend.
